Project Assistant

American Indian and Indigenous Studies

  • Work with Dr. Kasey Keeler.

  • Create the map and site for Mapping Teejop, an indigenous walking tour of the UW campus. Collect feedback through surveys, focus groups, and interviews.

  • Investigate the relationship between the 1862 Homestead Act and Indigenous dispossession through archival research, and data/map creation.

2020 - 2021

National Science Foundation CAREER Grant

  • Work with project Principal Investigator Robert E. Roth.

  • Update Mapstudy JS library to include map-based visual storytelling module.

  • Format Web Mapping textbook for online use.

Cartographer/Web Designer

Institute for Natural Resources, Oregon State University

  • Designed website for the Year of Water project.

  • Created interactive, map-based search tool for water-related research projects using HTML/JS/CSS and Leaflet.

  • Compiled list of water-related research projects from Oregon universities.

2019

Cartographer

Cartography and Visualization Group, Oregon State University

  • Part of a team of professors and graduate students that created the Global Refugee Atlas.

  • Designed web maps using HTML/JS/CSS, D3, and Leaflet.

  • Structured menus and created a design template, selected aesthetic elements.

  • Using D3, created an interface that allowed users to dynamically switch between map projections.

2017 - 2019

Digital Scholarship Developer

Valley Library, Oregon State University

  • Lead cartographer/designer for the 2019 Atlas of the Pacific Northwest.

  • Collected, compiled, and processed data using QGIS and GitHub.

  • Designed web maps using HTML/JS/CSS and Leaflet.

  • Structured the atlas using a Javascript template built with Vue.

  • Collaborated with supervisors and subject experts to ensure appropriate design elements.

  • Presented the Atlas to various campus organizations.

  • Georeferenced a large set of historical satellite images for use in web maps.
