Hello—I'm Gareth! I'm a mapmaker, fiction writer, educator, and currently a PhD student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My research interests include atlases, place-based storytelling, situated learning, and indigenous cartographies. Much of my mapmaking has manifested as stories, tours, and atlases, and in particular the use and creation of open-source mapmaking tools. I believe that maps can be used to challenge and expand our understandings of places and broader power structures, and I hope to inspire my students to do so as well. Check out my resume if you think our interests might align. I'd love to hear from you at baldricafran@wisc.edu.
You can also find source code for most of my digital projects on my Github page.
