Fall is my favorite season. Beyond the colors of falling leaves, dried corn, and pumpkins, is a sense of renewal—things are coming to an end so they can begin again. I wanted to create a map that captured this essence, the beauty of decay. I settled on a pumpkin patch. Here, cities and towns are depicted as little pumpkins, connected by the green vines of highways. As you zoom, the vines, and the surrounding colors, collapse into a series of browns and yellows, decaying.
